San Diego Comic-Con 2005

It looks like I’ll be headed out to the San Diego Comic-Con this year — the fourth year in a row!

I’ll be setting up once again in artist alley (find me at table FF-12) and this year I’ll have a sizable crew with me. As always, Gregg Schigiel will be on hand drawing commissions at lightning speed, and he’s offering a new mini-comic, FROM WHAT SCHOOL? This year Gregg and I will be joined by Jacob Chabot, who will be selling his MIGHTY SKULLBOY ARMY mini-comics, and artist Brian Smith, who will be debuting his new comic, WISHFUL STINKING.

I’ll be selling copies of G-MAN #1, so if you missed it, please come on by and pick it up!  I may have a few extra copies of SPIDEY AND THE MINI MARVELS at the table as well. I’ll also be doing commission sketches and I’ll be selling crayon drawings like the one of Cap pictured here. To see more crayon drawings, check out the online sketchbook, or head over to Artist Alley, Table FF-12 at Comic-Con 2005!

Comic-Con International 2005 will be held July 14-17 at the San Diego Convention Center. Visit their official site at the link above for more information.

Wizard World East Recap

Hey folks, it’s been a couple of weeks, but I’m finally back from Philly with my convention report on Wizard World East.

I set up at a table in artist alley with my pal Jacob Chabot for the three-day con and we both had a blast doing commission sketches for the fans. Big thanks to everyone who stopped by the table to pick up some sketches! I’ll be posting some of those con sketches in the sketchbook section of this site, so keep an eye out for sketchbook additions. That being said, if you’ve got a sketch from me that you’d like to see in my sketchbook, send me a scan!

I also spent some time during the show signing at the Marvel booth. I thought Marvel’s request for me to sign might have been a sign… but it wasn’t. There’s no new Mini Marvel projects coming any time in the foreseeable future. Marvel actually gave me a ride to the convention from Manhattan on the Marvel Bus, and asked me to return the favor by signing. Then they asked me to beat it when it was time for the HOT creators to sign! Still, it was great seeing all my friends from Marvel again.

Of course, no trip to Philly would be complete without grabbing some classic Philly cheesesteak sandwhiches. As there seems to be much debate over which cheesesteak joint has the best cheesesteaks (Gino’s or Pat’s?), the plan was to sample one from each. Unfortunately, I was full after one from Gino’s and had to bail on the plan. My 130-pound brother Matt managed to down two from each place and is still undecided. He’ll have to make another trip, I guess. Maybe next year’s WWE!
