NEW INTERVIEW

I have a new interview up at Comic Book Resources.  In it I mention that Mini Marvels has come to an end.

I’ve heard from a lot of folks already that are angry with Marvel on my behalf because they want to see Mini Marvels continue.  While I appreciate the sentiment, I would like to urge folks that want to support me to please order and pick up the first G-MAN digest on May 20th.  Marvel isn’t changing their mind about Mini Marvels, but I’m going to continue writing and drawing comics in the exact same tone and style with all-new non-Marvel characters in G-MAN.  If you enjoyed Mini Marvels, you will surely enjoy G-Man just as much.

gman_minimarvels

In spite of the fact that I will be writing and drawing the exact same way I did with Mini Marvels, there is a tendency for folks to resist taking a chance on something that lacks their favorite classic Marvel heroes.  For this reason, it is more important than ever to pre-order G-MAN, because shops are even less likely to order this one without you asking them to.  Mini Marvels was an underdog at a big company.  G-MAN is an underdog at an underdog company.

So PLEASE pre-order G-MAN volume 1: LEARNING TO FLY!  To make pre-ordering easy for you and for your comic shop, click here to download the new order form, fill it out, and give it to your comic shop!

AW YEAH TITANS… AND MARVELS!!!

Here’s a look at the jam piece that TINY TITANS cartoonist Art Baltazar and I drew, now in color!

awyeahman

This is our cover tribute to the classic THE UNCANNY X-MEN AND THE NEW TEEN TITANS crossover from Marvel and DC comics, originally drawn by Walt Simonson.  The original artwork (black and white india ink on bristol board paper) for this piece will be auctioned off later this year by the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.

order time for G-MAN: LEARNING TO FLY!

gman_minimarvels

The newest digest collection, G-MAN: LEARNING TO FLY, will be on sale May 20th!  Comic shops are ordering their May books NOW, so the time to place your order with your comic shop is NOW.  Ordering in advance is important because retailers often dismiss all-ages books as books that “don’t sell”.  The Mini Marvels digests were able to overcome that hurdle because so many readers pre-ordered the books!  But with all that progress, G-MAN will have to overcome the hurdle of not being a Marvel book.  Marvel and DC books are generally given healthier orders than books from other companies.  So if you want to get the new G-Man digest and help keep this mini super-hero train running, PLEASE pre-order!

MINI MARVELS: ROCK PAPER SCISSORS digest – STILL TIME TO ORDER

There’s still about a week left to order the MINI MARVELS: ROCK PAPER SCISSORS digest. As I’ve mentioned before, it’s very important that you pre-order this book if you want to buy it (click here for an order form to bring to your comic shop). This is because Marvel has decided to limit the print run, and the book will only be available through comic shops. The previous Mini Marvels one-shots were sold under similar limited print-run conditions and sold out quickly because comic shop retailers had no way of knowing what the demand might be for Mini Marvels books.

This time around, many comic shop retailers are still going to be unaware of any demand for the Mini Marvels. A retailer’s job is not an easy one. With thousands of comics and books and other general merchandise to order each month, it’s virtually impossible for any retailer to be fully aware of every single item available for order. It’s perfectly understandable how a low-profile item like the Mini Marvels can escape notice and be underestimated during order time or skipped altogether. That being said, I would like to acknowledge that I have heard from a handful of retailers who have said they plan to order big on MINI MARVELS: ROCK PAPER SCISSORS, and I thank them for their support and confidence in me.

But not all retailers will be ordering extra copies, and many may still not even know about MINI MARVELS: ROCK PAPER SCISSORS in the first place. I’ve already been told by some fans that their comic shop has never heard of the Mini Marvels and didn’t know anything about this collection, but those fans printed out the order form I’ve supplied and made it easy for their retailers to understand what they wanted. The best way to ensure you get your own copy of MARVELS: ROCK PAPER SCISSORS is to place an order with your local comic shop retailer, and I encourage you to use the order from to do so.

Thanks so much to everyone who has already placed an order and to everyone who is about to place an order!

The MINI MARVELS’ ROCK PAPER SCISSORS digest collection will contain the following stories:

PAPERBOY BLUES – Spidey has to collect his paper route money, but it’s not so easy when one of his customers is the Green Goblin!

CEREAL QUEST – A simple trip to the grocery store gets Wolverine more than he bargained for!

PAPERBOY SHOWDOWN – Spidey and Venom face off in a battle to win the bigger paper route!

HULK DATE – Hulk takes Betty out for a memorable lunch!

WORLD WAR HULK: ROUND TRIP & RALLY THE TROOPS – The Hulk is very angry with the Illuminators.

PASSING THE TORCH – The Fantastic Four, and just about everybody else, are annoyed with the Human Torch’s refusal to turn off his flame.

IRON AVENGERS – Iron Man creates custom suits of armor for his Avengers teammates! See Iron Spidey, Iron Wolverine, Iron Captain America, and more!
