Weekly Sketch Wednesday – Princess Roja

This week’s original art is available for purchase by clicking the button below. It’s Princess Roja and Princess Nila of the Color Guardians.

This particular piece was used in the recent G-MAN parody of the Rob Liefeld Levis commercial. Just as I was taking Rob’s place, Roja was used in place of X-Force’s Domino:

The art itself measures 8.5″ x 5.5″, india ink on bristol.

Tribute Tuesday: G-MAN commercial

Recently, we released the following commercial to promote the release of G-MAN, Volume 3: COMING HOME, and to promote G-Man in general:

My G-MAN commercial was designed to be a shot-for-shot parody of a commercial for Levi’s jeans that aired on TV in 1990. The original commercial, directed by Spike Lee, featured a young superstar comic book artist, Rob Liefeld:

At the time this original commercial first aired, it had a major impact on me. I was in high school, and here was a guy drawing comics that didn’t look much older than me. My friends who often teased me for my comic book addiction said, “That’s you. That’s what you’re going to do.” Strange how something so subtle can so drastically affect your outlook and attitude.

Two years later, Rob Liefeld and six other comic creators would go on to form a new comic book company called Image Comics, the same company which publishes G-MAN today.

Fan Art Friday Pro Reverse Edition – G-Man vs Invincible by RYAN OTTLEY!

Is it fair to call this “fan art” when it’s from one of the most talented artists in the history of comics? I’m going to say “yes,” if we call this a special “Reverse Edition” of Fan Art Friday because I’M such a huge fan of INVINCIBLE artist Ryan Ottley.

Can you believe this awesome piece of art? Can you believe that G-Man is winning this fight? Yeah, me neither. It’s just one isolated moment, and Invincible is probably holding back against this kid. Actually, I’d like to think that G-Man and Invincible would be allies, and this is just a brief misunderstanding before they make amends and team up to battle a real villain.
